Gribitch in Zolder’s – Saturday 9th September 2023 – Gribitch (France) Festive Balkan-punk

Between the music of the Balkans, alternative rock, and the French song, The Gribitch could be a tasty mix of Black Berurier, Mano Negra, B52’s and Rammstein who copulated during a trip to the countries of the East, probably in a potato alcohol bath forgotten in an old cauldron for several centuries. 1st of May, Monday, THE HIP PRIESTS (deathpunk, Nottingham UK)

Since their inception in 2006, The Hip Priests have released a mighty thirty 7” singles, four albums, two compilations and three EPs by various independent labels from all over Europe & the USA!!

Fiercely independent and tirelessly driven, the ‘Priests have preached their high energy sermon of misanthropy, hate and contempt across numerous tours of the UK, Europe and USA and made countless rapturously received festival appearances.

Gaining a richly deserved reputation as a white hot live band, the last few years have seen the band’s popularity increasing further with them regularly playing alongside kindred spirits such as The Hellacopters, Gluecifer, The Good the Bad and the Zugly, New Bomb Turks, Dwarves and Zeke at both festivals and in clubs.

Rave reviews pour in for every release, ranging from ‘a band on top of their game & steps ahead of any of their UK contemporaries’ to ‘if you’re in any doubt about how good these bad boys are then you need locking up’.

After 16 years some bands would be taking it easy but in spite of a global pandemic, there was no let- up in their determination and activity. Their fifth, and by far their bestfull-length album – ‘Roden House Blues’ was written, rehearsed and recorded during this period and will be released in Spring 2023 via The Sign Records. 7th of April, Friday, RAVAGERS (USA)

FROM THE RAT INFESTED STREETS OF BALTIMORE,
Ravagers have been ripping up a dust storm of debauchery for nearly a decade. Dressed in leather and denim, the Filth City foursome may look like menaces to society, but rest assured, their ferocious blend of punk fury and sneering rock ’n’ roll nonchalance make them a threat to not just the laws of man, but the laws of nature.

It’s easy to think of Ravagers as a group of rebel-rousing shit stirrers. Their songs evoke an attitude of manifest malfeasance. Lyrics often paint perilous, black landscapes akin to a Danzig wet dream. But at its core, Ravagers are here for a good time, and the brevity of their songs, influenced no doubt by late 70’s punk and early 80’s hardcore, means they won’t be here for long. No tomorrow? No problem! Rather than extinguish the rising flames of hell, these guys prefer to throw a Molotov cocktail and raise a Natty Bo. (Source: https://www.ravagersgang.com/about-1)

20th of February, Monday, Bogos (Austria)

Banjo’s and electric guitars from Austria.

“From Bern Switzerland the old-school No-Hit Hobo Psycho-Western-Punkabilly Sensation: BOGOS !!!! 1st album Recorded by Zeno Tornado, Punk v/s Ennio Morricone Banjo – ONCE UPON A TIME IN OLD BERN – Have a beer or 10 with me and let me tell you the story of the 4 young barflies, in 2009 near Bern they formed as: “Baseball Bat Boogie Bastards” as an old-school Psychobilly band, 3 young Punks and school friends who were no strangers to wild uncouth rock n’ roll around semi-acoustic guitarist Ädu Bogo, double bass player Ritchu Bogo and stand-up drummer Mitchu Bogo crushed 50s rockabilly with country and trash beats from the 60s garage punk area and the simplicity of 70’s punk bands into a wild mix of their own, in 2018 they took another step forward and morphed into the no-hit hobo-billy-punk sensation: BOGOS !!!! With Adri, an important component came into the band ‘the Banjo from Hell’ and they are now committed to Blue Grass Country or Hobo Folk… that was very good for them during the Corona period and they were therefore able to play a lot of acoustics, and with Mitchu Bogo is very active in the Bern scene as concert promoter and with his radio show “Swamp Digger Radio Show” on Radio Rabe the entire recordings and mixings where made by Zeno Tornado at Zeno’s Living Room in 2020″ (source: https://www.hhv.de/shop/en/item/bogos-empty-bottles-933099)
